TradeZella Alternative

For traders who keep breaking their own rules — and want a journal that makes that visible.

TradeZella is a strong product. It is the most complete trading journal on the market, and for a large group of traders it is the right answer. This page is not an argument that it is bad. It is an honest account of who is better served somewhere else, and who should stop reading and go buy TradeZella.

Short version. Tradeventure is the better choice if you want a journal that scores whether you followed your own rules, if you want to start free without a card, or if $315–$891/year is more than you want to spend on journaling. TradeZella is the better choice if you need tick-level trade replay, automated backtesting, or direct sync with one of 500+ brokers — Tradeventure has none of those.

Where Tradeventure is different: the Companion

Every journal in this category will tell you what happened to your account. Win rate, expectancy, drawdown, a report for each. Tradeventure does that too. The part no one else does is the Companion.

The mechanism, not the metaphor: the Companion is a living entity that exists in ten phases, from Dormant at the bottom to Awakened at the top. It is not a score card and not a chart. Every trade you log is checked against the rules you set for that folder — max trades per session, daily loss limit, position size, minimum R:R, trading hours. Following them earns experience and the entity moves up a phase. Breaking them costs experience and it decays visibly toward stone. A catastrophic breach, like blowing your daily loss limit, locks it into a rest state for ten hours.

It also refuses to be gamed. Deleting a trade that already earned experience, or moving it into a folder that is not tracked, freezes the entity for twelve hours. Changing your rules twice in one day freezes it for twenty-four. You cannot quietly rewrite history to make it glow.

Whether that matters to you is a real question. If your problem is analytical — you need to know which setup has the edge — it will not help, and TradeZella's 300+ reports will. If your problem is behavioral, which is to say you already know your rules and break them anyway, this is the difference. The Companion runs on the free plan across phases 2 to 5, so you can find out without paying.

Where TradeZella is the better choice

This section is not a formality. There are traders for whom this page should end with them buying TradeZella.

You use trade replay

TradeZella's tick-level replay is widely considered the best in the category, and Tradeventure has nothing comparable — not a lesser version, none at all. If you review your entries bar by bar, this is not a close call. Buy TradeZella.

You backtest

Automated backtesting against 11+ years of data is a core TradeZella feature and a genuinely hard thing to build. Tradeventure does not attempt it and has no timeline for it. If backtesting is part of your weekly process, the price difference is irrelevant.

Your broker is not one of ours

This is the gap most likely to affect you, and it got wider in September 2026 when we removed Binance. Tradeventure now auto-syncs exactly one platform — cTrader — and imports statements from cTrader, MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, XTB and TradingView. That is one live connection and five importers against 500+ integrations. If your broker is outside that list you will be entering trades by hand, and no feature elsewhere on this page compensates for that.

You want depth of analysis

300+ reports is a lot of reports. Tradeventure has a focused dashboard — expectancy, max drawdown, top instrument, equity curve, discipline streak — built to be read rather than browsed. That is a deliberate choice, and it is the wrong one if you want to slice your data thirty ways.

You want a product with a track record

TradeZella has 100,000+ traders and years of operating history. Tradeventure is new, small, and has neither. We are not going to invent a number to put here. If buying from an established company matters to you, that is a legitimate reason to choose them.

Price

TradeZella raised prices on 14 July 2026. Current published rates:

PlanMonthlyBilled annually
TradeZella Essential$35/mo$26/mo — $315/yr
TradeZella Pro$59/mo$44/mo — $531/yr
TradeZella Ultra$99/mo$74/mo — $891/yr
Tradeventure Free$0$0 — permanent
Tradeventure Pro$23/mo$199/yr

Two differences worth stating without spin. On annual billing, Tradeventure Pro is $199/yr against $315/yr for TradeZella's entry tier — but those plans are not equivalent, and the comparison table above is a more useful guide than the prices. The second difference is structural rather than numerical: TradeZella publishes no free plan and no free trial, and handles refunds case by case, so evaluating it means paying for at least one month. Tradeventure's free tier does not expire and does not ask for a card.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free alternative to TradeZella?

Yes. Tradeventure has a free forever plan: 50 trades per month, 2 folders, the full dashboard, discipline tracking and the Companion across phases 2 to 5. No card required. TradeZella has no free plan and no free trial, so its cheapest entry point is $26/month billed annually. Other journals with free tiers exist too — TradingView's built-in journal and several spreadsheet templates cost nothing, though they do not track rule adherence.

Is TradeZella worth it?

If you use trade replay or automated backtesting, very likely yes. TradeZella's tick-level replay is widely considered the best in the category, its backtesting runs on 11+ years of data, and it connects to 500+ brokers with 300+ analytics reports. Those are real capabilities Tradeventure does not have. If you would use none of them and mainly need a journal that holds you to your own rules, you are paying for depth you will not open.

Does TradeZella have a free trial?

No. As of July 2026 TradeZella publishes no free trial and no free plan. Refunds are handled case by case rather than under a published policy, so the practical way to evaluate it is to pay for a month. Check TradeZella's site for current terms before relying on this.

What is the cheapest trading journal?

A spreadsheet is free and always will be. Among hosted journals, Tradeventure's free tier costs nothing and its paid plan is $23/month or $199/year. TradeZella starts at $26/month billed annually ($315/year) and runs to $74/month annually ($891/year) on Ultra. Price should not be the deciding factor on its own — the cheapest tool you abandon costs more than the one you actually open.

Can I import my TradeZella trades into Tradeventure?

Not directly — there is no TradeZella-to-Tradeventure importer. What does work is importing from the source: automatic sync for cTrader, statement upload for cTrader, MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5, XTB and TradingView, or manual entry. If your broker is not on that list, your history will not come across automatically.

Does Tradeventure have unlimited AI Coach messages?

No. The AI Coach is capped at 300 messages per month and 20 per day on the paid plan. The free plan does not include the AI Coach. TradeZella meters its AI features with monthly credits (500, 1,500 or 3,000 depending on plan) that reset each cycle. Both products limit AI usage; neither is unmetered.

Try it before you decide

The free plan is the whole argument. It does not expire, it does not ask for a card, and it includes the Companion across phases 2 to 5 — enough to see whether a journal that watches your rule-keeping changes how you trade. If it does not, you have lost nothing and TradeZella will still be there.
